Shanghai Geometry Partners Intelligent Driving Co., Ltd. has completed the Pre-A series of financing with a total amount of nearly 400 million yuan. Among them, the Pre-A1 round was exclusively invested by Matrix Partners China; the Pre-A2 round was led by Xiaomi Yangtze River Industry Fund, followed by Baidu Ventures and Matrix Partners China; the Pre-A3 round was invested by angel shareholders Si Lijie, Xinlanwei, Yao New Capital and Xinyu Yihe (Borun, Bowu) made the additional investments, with Matrix Partners China continued to support, and the new investor, PricewaterhouseCoopers, followed in on the investment. This round of financing is mainly used to accelerate the mass production of a new generation of automated driving software and hardware integrated systems.

Geometry Partners was established in October 2018. Based on machine perception and deep learning, it adopts the technical route of "low cost, car-level, high reliability, and easy mass production” to provide L2-L4 autonomous driving with "integrated perception + intelligent decision-making", a software and hardware integrated system. Specifically, the company uses a self-developed 4D millimeter-wave imaging radar to replace traditional millimeter-wave radars to realize spatial information perception of dynamic and static targets and achieve the effect of lidar-like, plus visible light vision, infrared imaging and other multi-transmissions fusion to form an all-weather, all-time perception module; At the same time, the company has independently developed a full-stack autopilot system software and overall solution integrating "perception, planning, decision-making, and control" to realize "software-defined cars".


Geometry Partners completed an angel round of financing of RMB 60 million in January 2019, led by the ARM China Ecological Industry Fund, followed by Si Lijie, Yaotu Capital, and Xinyu Yihe. The company's core team members come from aerospace, Huawei, SAIC, DJI, and Denso with many years of experience in the field of autonomous driving and radar systems.


Geometry Partners CEO Xue Dan said that as early as 2017, North American Ford, General Motors and other OEMs began to study low-cost perception fusion solutions. Among many vehicle-mounted sensors, the camera can image, but its effect is limited by weather, lighting conditions and visual ranging accuracy; Traditional millimeter-wave radar can provide point coordinates and speed information, but cannot provide spatial information (contours, behaviors and shape of dynamic and static targets) . If the millimeter-wave radar can also image and output point cloud information, it can form a pixel-level fusion with the camera, which attributes to greatly reduce costs while obtaining high-quality environmental perception information.


But in the past few years, few companies in the world have made breakthroughs in the research and development of 4D millimeter wave imaging radar. Xue Dan said that thanks to the full guidance and support of SAIC, Geometry Partners' fusion sensing solution based on 4D millimeter wave imaging radar as the main sensor has accumulated a large number of road test scenes and data, and autonomously drives container trucks in Shanghai Yangshan Port. And the heavy-duty flatbed transporter project to achieve small batch delivery. At the same time, they are cooperating with OEMs to pre-sell passenger car models in 2023, which are in the pre-installation test stage.

Feng Qi, director of SAIC's Strategic Research and Knowledge Information Center, stated that as one of SAIC's strategic partners, Geometry Partners uses 4D millimeter wave imaging radar as the main sensing multi-sensor fusion sensing system and intelligent decision-making system, which is very suitable for the host. The factory's demand for a safe, effective and cost-conscious perception technology route has been verified in road tests for this "low-cost, vehicle-level, highly reliable, and easy-to-mass production" autopilot technology route.

According to the official introduction, Geometry Partners has high-performance GPU computing laboratories and PB-level data centers and other autonomous driving software development conditions, shielded darkrooms, simulation laboratories, environmental laboratories and other hardware development and testing conditions, and self-developed autonomous driving platform vehicles , With the ability to develop automated driving software and hardware systems, refit automated driving vehicles, and perform automated driving platform performance testing on closed road sections. At present, Geometry Partners is preparing to build the "Shanghai Autonomous Driving Fusion Perception and Intelligent Decision-making" engineering center, and plans to build a national technological innovation engineering center; in addition, Geometry Partners has also undertaken a number of national, provincial and municipal scientific research projects.
